Enchantment, Bottled

A friend inspired this piece. It's been in the idea book for a while.

The little girl in me likes to imagine little charm is filled with fairy dust or some other magical treasure found in a dream or fantasy.

Bad Day

It's been a wild roller coaster day. I should be used to it.

No matter what, I always have my friends. Note- neither one is a cat!

Rating

The rating flags I have on each post help me gauge my progress. Don't be afraid to use them- they are anonymous. Your opinion will help me understand where I am growing and where I am lacking... or just where my style deviates from others' in which case, I may just continue! :-O

But really, each one helps. If you don't care to, that's fine as well.
Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy!

Put on a (Wild) Face

I wanted to try another medium today.

I made this mask using layers of paper with the first being tissue paper and the final (top layer) being the decorative leopard print.

Deco Disks

These are simple but I don't mind because I simply adore art deco style. The ray pattern and shape really have an art deco feel so in turn, I adore these earrings!
They are silver plate, so have a richness to them as well.

This was a little harder than I thought it would be. I may consider another method if I try this again. I guess that is part of this project, there will be trial and error and the knowledge and experience gained from each.

Shelled Out

When I found this great, over sized and wonderfully colorful shell pendant, I knew it was destined to be in my collection. It is not for the meek for certain. Well, that could be said about many of my items- I like to make a statement! I have had these great turquoise colored wood beads for a time and I have been trying to find a home for them. The shell pendant had just a hint of the same color so I think the beads are a nice compliment.

Gilded Flowers

I found this pretty paper with gilt outlines a while back. I thought it was a little old fashioned, but I was drawn to it but not sure how I would use it. I was going to go in a different direction with this purse, but I am happy with how it came out.

Nature's camouflage that is. I am loving animal print again. I wore a great (hey- I think it's great) drape neck zebra print shirt today which inspired today's creation.

This is Rich

It is a little hard to tell from this picture, but the metal leaf (gold, copper) is suspended in the resin. It is three dimensional and has much more color than comes through here. I am pretty happy with it. I think I will try to find a gold bail to attach and I will probably put it on an omega wire necklace.

Day 5: Acrylic resin and metal leaf

These Earrings are HOT

Well, maybe not literally but I am in love with the fiery colors in the Swarovski Crystals. They go from red to orange to yellow. The combination with the antiqued copper earrings seems to add to the warm effect.

Creation a Day - My Project for the New Year

Over the last few years, I have been quite inspired by the dedication that some fellow artists/bloggers have had to 365 day experiments. In particular, an artist I do not know personally, Duane Keiser in his Painting A Day Project http://duanekeiser.blogspot.com/ which continues on as less regular but none the less breathtaking fashion and one I am happy to call a friend, the talented photog April Chandler http://www.aprildotphotography.com/. In the last few years, such projects have become pretty common but I don't feel like it has become cliche or tiring. When I follow such projects, I see each person hone their skills and grow with their experience. I also see them branch out and try new techniques and risks others with less dedication might not.

Taking these as inspiration as well as the birth of 2009, I start Creation a Day. Call it ADD, but I have so many ideas and things I would like to try whether it is jewelry design, painting, crafting or sculpting, I intend to create something by my hand each day.
Wish me luck!

Day 1: Turquoise polymer clay, gold leafed and sealed.
